A True Repentance: "The fool says in his heart: There is no God"
The Bible has much to tell us about repentance. In general, the Scriptures treat the subject as a conversion, that is, as a turning from one life to another. In the New Testament the term is used to indicate "a change of mind." Now, the question we must ask ourselves is: Why is a change of mind necessary?
Well, the Bible teaches that all men are sinners. Many may agree with this statement, but not many understand what this means. God has told us in His Word that all men from the moment they are conceived are corrupted by terrible wickedness, the evil inherited from their original ancestor, Adam (Psalm 51: 5, Psalm 58: 3, 1 Kings 8: 46 , Romans 3: 9-12.
That evil is nothing other than rebellion against God its Creator. The clearest statement of man's moral corruption is this, "The fool says in his heart: There is no God" (Psalm 14: 1 and 53: 1).
